The Pony Project

Finished or just beginning.

We finally completed the shelter and fencing for Addison's pony last weekend. On Friday I took Addison to my parents' for the weekend and brought her pony home. Jose' seems to be adjusting well. He would really like to play with the dogs, but the dogs are afraid of him.

Yesterday when Addison came home from grandma's house I took her down to see Jose'. She wasn't very excited. I was holding her so that she would be at eye level with the pony, but she screamed and arched her back and didn't want anything to do with him. So, I made her take a nap.

After a three hour nap, it was time to feed all the animals. Addison was much more willing to interact with Jose' this time. She helped her dad put the lead rope on his halter and bring him in from the grass. I think that she is mostly interested in the shiny snap on the end of the rope.

Addison thought that Jose's ball made a pretty cool toy too. Check out those super cute little paddock boots that Addison is wearing :)

A very big THANK YOU to the Sanders family - especially JC and Cindy, for letting this wonderful pony come to live with us. Jose' has lived with them for 17 years and is considered part of the family. Jose' has taught so many little kids to ride, I can't even count them all. We are so luck to have such a great pony for Addison. THANK YOU Sanders Family.

Weekend Fun

For Labor Day weekend we loaded up Addison and the dogs and headed over the mountain to visit my parents. On Saturday Joe and I ran in a 5K with my mom and Addison (in her stroller). The 5k was part of a larger event that a group my dad is involve in puts on every year. My cousin and aunt participated in the sprint triathlon and Lauren's bf, Scott, did the Olympic distance tri. They were all so brave to get into the water on Saturday morning...it was SO cold.

After the race, we were waiting in the park for the awards and Addison really got into the belly dancers. These belly dancers were also dancing along the run route. Kinda weird.

Addison had a riding lesson on Sunday. Joe finally gave in and is building a barn for Jose'. We should be done in a few weeks and Jose' will come to live with us. Addison seems to LOVE riding. She even tried to brush her pony. I also had a chance to ride and my legs are still sore - but it was so fun :)

We also visited with both sets of my grandparents and as always, we had a fun time with family :)
