Last weekend, we drove to McCall, Idaho to meet the Crane Family. Matt and Joe went to vet school together and from some of the stories I heard over the weekend it sounds like Rachel did lots of cooking for them :)Matt and Rachel have two girls, Kelsey and Kendal. They both were perfect playmates for Addison.
We camped at Ponderosa State Park just outside of McCall. Matt called it city-slicker camping, but I think it was just perfect. We were right on Payette Lake with lots of trails and bike paths to explore. This was Addison's first camping trip. She slept in her mat in the tent and was really a trooper. Actually, I think this is our first vacation since Addison was born (one that doesn't involve going to visit the grandparents)!
I forgot my camera most of the time, so almost all these photos are from Rachel. Thanks Rachel :)
We biked from our campsite up to Osprey Point look out. It was about a three mile up hill bike ride. Normally, this wouldn't be too much of an issue, but we were on road bikes and this was a gravel road. The last bit was really steep. I think we were all off our bikes pushing. We finally got to the lookout and were really disappointed. We couldn't see anything because the trees were in the way. So, off we went...but then we discovered the "real" lookout. There are some HUGE houses along the shore. It was also a very steep drop into the lake, so with three adventurous little girls, we didn't dare stay too long.
We went down to the beach near our campsite a couple of times. The water was very pleasant. Addison really enjoyed the sand in her toes. She probably sat for an hour watching the water wash the sand up on her legs.
Addison has a trailer that Joe pulls behind his bike. She probably rode in it more this weekend than ever before. She knows that she has to wear her helmet if she is going in her trailer. She's really good about putting it on. Now she has decided that she needs to wear it all the time. After we got back from our bike ride, she insisted on having her helmet. I guess she was really safe when she was running around the campground.
This is the only time I remembered my camera :) We stopped to have lunch on the way home. Only 3 more hours to drive!
Thanks Crane family for the great weekend!
